The use of pipe insulation and vapor retarders in commercial and industrial buildings are governed by various building codes and specifications addressing flame/smoke behavior. To provide safe products with the most market and application versatility, ITW Insulation Systems has tested all of our products for ASTM E84 flame spread and smoke developed performance at appropriate thicknesses using highly respected third party labs.
Our Trymer® Polyisocyanurate Insulation, Trymer Green Phenolic, and Extruded Polystyrene Pipe Insulation Billet (XPS PIB) insulation products along with our Saran Vapor Retarder Film and Tape achieve Class A/Class 1 flame spread/smoke developed ratings of ≤ 25 flame spread and ≤ 450 smoke developed at all thicknesses when tested using ASTM E84.
In addition, our Trymer Green Phenolic Insulation and Saran Vapor Retarder Film and Tape have flame/smoke ratings of ≤ 25 flame spread and ≤ 50 smoke developed in the ASTM E84 test making them suitable for use under most building codes and specifications in air plenum applications.
